CASTING

 

Breckenridge Backstage Theatre’s A ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHRISTMAS (plays Dec. 14-29).

 

Seeking Summit County Men and Women (ages 20-60) and kids (ages 6 to 10) for original musical production.  Seeking mature actor (60s) to play Father John Lewis Dyer in original musical production.

 

The story: A surprise snow storm brings together the members of a mountain community for a makeshift holiday celebration in 1880s Breckenridge. A funny and moving window into a Christmas long past created especially for those who love and admire the heart, the tenacity, and the welcoming spirit of Breckenridge.

 

Written by Jamie Patti and Christopher Willard (Nomad’s Belle and the Beast and BBT’s Hidden). Directed by Christopher Willard (BBT's Billy Elliot).

 

Casting:

FATHER JOHN LEWIS DYER (60’s) - the “snow-shoe preacher” - known as “Old Sledge Hammer” for his fiery preaching style - now superannuated from the church and trying to find his place in the world of boom/bust Breckenridge. A man haunted by painful personal loss, wrestling with thoughts of revenge, in the throes of a crisis of conscience. Mostly non-singing role with some choral participation.

Rehearsal schedule:

General rehearsals begin in mid-October, flexible with actor schedules. 

Tech rehearsals begin on/around December 8. 

Performances: December 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29. 

All rehearsals in Summit County.  All performances at the Breckenridge Theater.

Compensation:

Honorarium stipend.  Comp tickets.
